State of mind

From January 26th to February 3rd, on the occasion of BRAFA 2019, the Lin Deletaille Gallery will present an exhibition born of a form of serendipity. The spontaneous impulses that drive us to love an object often seem to result from an instinct shaped by senses, experience and a state of mind that fluctuates with our emotions and our thoughts. Then, as if by magic, the sum of these unconscious choices takes the form of a coherent equation, a metaphor whose sinuous ramifications anchor us and go beyond us.

Since the dawn of time, art has been the incarnation and vehicle of common perceptions about creation, human condition, sensitive and metaphysical worlds. The artist adroitly manipulates symbols and images; he crystallizes the soul of his people and the earth that has engendered them for posterity.

The iconography of this exceptionally rare three-part Mayan vessel suggests the grandeur and power of the king it evokes. The shamanic imagery of Panamanian ceramics embodies the primordial principles of an existence in perpetual transformation in a multidimensional universe.

Rover Thomas's paintings depict the Dreamings Stories, ancestral allegorical tales telling the genesis of Aboriginal peoples. George Segal's compositions emerge as a fable celebrating the beauty of the ordinary, the singularity of the individual in an era obsessed with mass consumption.

The artist is an illusionist who opens secrets portals to a beyond, a parallel world where by the magic play of forms and materials, nothing is ever what it seems.

Carole Solvay’s shredded feathers engender aquatic and atmospheric creatures whose suspended majesty traces the outlines of an ethereal tale. Lilian Daubisse has the sharp eye of one who sees the extraordinary shimmer around the edges of banality. His cardboard masks and armor tell the story of a grandiose civilization.
